Dr. Amina Adanan is a Lecturer in Law in the Law Department in Maynooth University (Ireland) where she lectures in human rights law. In 2018, Amina was awarded a Ph.D. in human rights from the Irish Centre for Human Rights in the School of Law in NUI Galway. Her doctoral thesis was entitled ‘Allies and enemies, past and present: An analysis of the rationale for the development of universal jurisdiction over serious crimes under international law’, and examined the history of universal jurisdiction and the exercise of universal jurisdiction in contemporary times. Prior to that, Amina completed an MA (International Relations) in Dublin City University and an LL.B and BA International (Legal Science & Italian) in NUI Galway. Amina’s research interests lie in International Criminal Law, specifically the prosecution of international crimes in domestic courts, and she has published and presented her research in this area.
