Dr Chiara Scissa is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna, investigating the role of courts in shaping the right to access asylum in Africa in the context of EU externalization policies. She also served as a Research Collaborator on climate change and migration at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, where she analysed how courts interpret climate and environmental factors of migration in Italy’s refugee status determination process. Dr Scissa has published extensively on migration and climate change and produced reports for EuroMed Rights, Ecorys Nederland BV, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development and the International Organization for Migration.
