Julia Emtseva

About/Bio

Julia Emtseva is currently a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute. She holds a PhD from the Free University of Berlin. From 2019 to 2024, Julia was a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. She is a co-founder and convener of the ESIL Interest Group on Critical Approaches to International Law. Her research focuses on questions related to private actors and privatization in international law, transitional justice, diversity and otherness in legal academia and practice, and radical approaches to international law.
